Mares Genius Computer
The Mares Genius Computer is an advanced and versatile dive computer designed for divers seeking precise gas management and customisable decompression options. It supports Trimix and Nitrox dives with gas changes, making it suitable for a wide range of diving scenarios.
With the ability to receive data from up to five high-pressure probes, the Genius Computer allows integrated management of gas supply, optimising both bottom and decompression times based on the remaining gas. It utilises the ZH-L16C Decompression Algorithm, which incorporates 16 tissue compartments and offers adjustable Gradient Factors to tailor the decompression curve according to individual preferences. Deep stops can be selected or omitted to minimise the formation of micro-bubbles.
The Genius Computer features a colour display made of scratch-resistant tempered mineral glass and four easily accessible buttons, even while wearing waterproof gloves. The 2.7-inch diagonal backlit display offers three horizontal zones for data presentation, with the choice of two bands to highlight the foreground information. The display boasts a QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 with 256,000 colorus and a brightness of 420 cd/m².
The computer offers two selectable modes: Diving and Gauge - Bottom Timer, making it suitable as a primary or backup tool in various situations. In Dive Mode, the Genius supports Trimix and Nitrox diving with oxygen concentrations ranging from 6% to 99%. It provides essential dive data such as current, average, and maximum depths, time in minutes and seconds, temperature, and performs accurate decompression calculations.
During the dive, up to five different gas mixtures can be managed from the menu, optimising both decompression and bottom times. The Genius computer can recalculate decompression times underwater in case of issues with certain tanks, such as unused ones or the need to return to a gas previously used. The gas change mode is predictive, providing timely indications for gas switches as the altitude changes. When using optional high-pressure probes and entering the cylinder volumes, the computer enables monitoring of actual gas consumption in liters, optimising gas supply, bottom times, and decompression. Selecting the breathing mixture displays the partial pressure of O2 and the Maximum Operating Depth (MOD).
A compass function is available, offering magnetic North indication. For dives at altitude up to 3700m, the Genius allows altitude setting and automatic decompression calculations. Audible and visual alarms can be customised according to personal preferences. The Depth Meter - Bottom Timer Mode provides pressure data when connected to probes, along with standard data, a compass, average depth, and a stopwatch, which can be reset as needed. On the surface, the Planner Mode allows virtual simulation of decompression for multiple dives with set surface intervals.
