SalVimar Hero Speargun Product Description

The SalVimar Hero Speargun is the ultimate in blue water hunting with some unique features. It is available at Dive Warehouse in 2 lengths including 115cm and 125cm and these are best used in open water hunting larger pelajic fish. The Hero comes with twin 16mm rubbers with dyneema bridles that hook on the the 7.5mm finned shaft for a big kick. It has an open muzzle that gives you a perfectly straight aim as there is nothing to get in your sightline when aiming and the 7.5mm shaft is held in by the monofilament shooting line.

The Hero speargun barrel is made from aircraft grade aluminium alloy and has an enlarger profile. A unique feature of the Salvimar Hero is the ergonomic handle that has a comfortable loading butt, however the great feature is that you can choose to have a right handed handle of left handed as the gun comes with both options.

The general rule when purchasing a speargun and what length to get is determined on where you will use it. 90cm - 110cm and normally used in shallow reef diving as they are shorter and easier to maneuver in shallow water. 120cm - 140cm and normally used in open water aiming for the larger fish, this is due to them have a longer range which you need with bigger fish. This is a general rule though!

Extras:   When purchasing a speargun, there are a few extras that we recommend you purchase to complete you kit. A float rope and divers float are the 2 main extras. The rope is connected to the gun at handle and the other end of the rope is to be connected to the float, this will ensure you will not loose your gun by accidental dropping it, or having a fish steal it! (It does happen). A pair of gloves is another item that we recommend you purchase also. Once you have shot your fish, trying to grab it and finish the kill can be very difficult without gloves. Fish are not only slippery but also have made spikes and teeth. Gloves will prevent cuts and scratches as well as grip. Here at Dive Warehouse we are loading with information regarding spearfishing, gear and tips so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the warranty?

SalVimar Spearguns warranty is a 2 year on the handle, trigger mech and barrel.

Do I need a license to buy a speargun?

You do not need a license to purchase a speargun, however you may need a fishing license depending on which state you are in. In Queensland you do not need a fishing license.

How do I load my speargun?

The best place to load your spear gun is on your hip. Place the butt of the gun on your hip, lean over the gun to grab the rubber with palms facing upwards and pull with one swift movement towards you to hook the bridle on to the spear notch. If you can not reach the rubber (usually on 1.2m +) you will need to load the gun from your chest. Simply grab one side of the rubber with 1 hand whilst placing your other hand on the butt of the gun. As you start to pull the rubber towards you, push with the hand on the gun until you can slide the butt of the gun in to your chest and then grab the rubber with both hands and finish the load.

Where can I go spearfishing on the Gold Coast?

On the Gold Coast, you will need to stay out of all of the rivers and the broadwater. Stick to the headlands and ocean. There are fines if you get caught where you should not be and your gear can be confiscated.

What length is best for me?

The best length of speargun for you depends on where you are spearfishing. If you are in shallow reef waters then a shorter gun from 50cm -110cm is perfect. If you are in deep open waters then 110cm - 140cm is perfect.

Which one is a beginner gun?

All of the spearguns work in a simular way. There is no such one as a beginner gun, its more about quailty and what you are prepared to spend for your first gun. The more you spend, the better the quality they will be.

Can I shoot the gun out of water?

No, this is dangerous and all spearguns are to be used in water only.

What else do I need once I have me speargun?

Once you have purchased your speargun, you will need a knife to kill your catch, a float and flag to connect the gun to and your mask, snorkel and fins. These are the necessary items however there are many more things you can add on like a wetsuit, gloves, socks, stringer, flasher & more.
