Mares Epic Adj 82X PVD Regulator Product Description

The Mares Epic Adj 82X PVD Regulator is Mares top of the line brand new reg that has just been released. Whether you are just starting out with only a few dives under your belt or you have been diving for year, this regulator will be a great choice.

The 1st stage is the 82X with 2 x HP ports and 5 x LP ports that are all DFC ports. The (DFC) Dynamic flow control is designed to minimise any pressure that drops when diving during inhalation which maximises air delivery. The 2 x HP ports are also known as OPD (Optomized port design) which is a Mares unique feature that are angled opposite each other that allows the turret to be rotated without the HP and LP hoses interfering.  There are x 4 LP ports that are radial and 1 x LP port is vertical. The turret is on a 360 degree swivel which allows more movement within the hoses.

The 82x has the Auto sealing system (AST) which is designed to keep the 1st stage dry without affecting the performance of the regulator whilst in use. It is an internal component that is activated by air pressure. Next is the Natural Convection Channel (NCC) which increases the regs performance when in cold water by creating a flow of water across the regulator. The flow is driven by the change of water density with temperature. Its has a pearl chrome finish and connects the 2nd stage via a super flex hose which is a braided style hose that is extremely durable and lasts longer than the standard rubber hose.

The 2nd stage is the Epic Adj and is a metal reg that has a PVD coating that is abrasion resistant ensuring a long lasting performance and is ideal for both warm and cold water use. The Adjustable system on the Epic is a rotating handle that you can change the spring load to increase or decrease the breathing effort. Working hand in hand with the ADJ is the Pneumatically assisted design (PAD) which allows for an assisted supply which allows for a much softer spring and greater breathing comfort. The Mares Epic Adj has Mares new Twin Power that is a flow control that manages the delivery rate of the air from natural breathing to power breathing and it is situated between the hose and second stage that can be operated easily even when weraing thick neoprene gloves. This is generally used in strong currents, deep dives or extreme conditions.

The VAD (Vortex assisted design) is a small bypass tube that delivers air to the mouthpiece creating a vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation for a sensitive breath every time. This light weight second stage comes with a comfortable silicone mouthpiece and a wide pivting purge button that is suitable for all divers.
