Rob Allen Sparid Pack

The Rob Allen Sparid Pack is an advanced level pack that is made up of top quality spearfishing gear. It is made up of the Rob Allen Sparid speargun, Snapper mask, Mare pro flex snorkel, Razor fins and Tech torpedo float. Purchasing all of the dive gear in a pack allows you to get the best price possible.

the largest of fish. With a double rubber muzzle, this gun can have twin 16mm rubbers on it which will give you even more power. The Rob Allen Sparid comes standard with a 16mm rubber however you can upgrade to the twin 16mm rubbers of put a single 20mm rubber on it. Also on this particular gun is a gun bungee. These are made from 10mm rubber and designed to give a bit of bounce when a fish takes off at speed with your spear.  The Sparid is available in wide range of sizes from 90cm - 140cm. The "Rail" in rail gun, means that there is a carved out rail down the length of the barrel where the spear sits. This allows the spear to be guided out when shot making it more accurate. Dont be fooled though, your gun is only as accurate as you are!!! They call Rob Allens the original railgun, not because it was the first speargun with a rail, but because it was the Rob Allen range that made full barrel length rail systems on spearguns, the popular choice they are today. The Sparid is available in wide range of sizes from 90cm - 140cm.

The general rule when purchasing a speargun and what length to get is determined on where you will use it. 90cm - 110cm and normally used in shallow reef diving as they are shorter and easier to maneuver in shallow water. 120cm - 140cm and normally used in open water aiming for the larger fish, this is due to them have a longer range which you need with bigger fish. This is a general rule though!

Extras:   When purchasing a speargun, there are a few extras that we recommend you purchase to complete you kit. A float rope and divers float are the 2 main extras. The rope is connected to the gun at handle and the other end of the rope is to be connected to the float, this will ensure you will not loose your gun by accidental dropping it, or having a fish steal it! (It does happen). A pair of gloves is another item that we recommend you purchase also. Once you have shot your fish, trying to grab it and finish the kill can be very difficult without gloves. Fish are not only slippery but also have made spikes and teeth. Gloves will prevent cuts and scratches as well as grip. Here at Dive Warehouse we are loading with information regarding spearfishing, gear and tips so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

The Rob Allen Snapper Mirrored Mask is one of our most popular spearfishing mask that we stock. This is due to the mirrored lens and great seal. It is made from 100% liquid silicone which is extremely comfortable as it is softer than standard silicone and generally seals to faces better. The mirrored lens is what is amazing about this mask, the mirror is designed to allow fish to see themselves in the reflection and come closer with interest. If the fish can see your eyes, it can in fact sometimes spook them, where if they see what they think is another fish in the mirror, it will entice them closer. With the super easy adjustable side buckles that you squeeze to release, this mask is a great choice for not only beginners but advanced divers also. The Rob Allen Snapper comes in black silicone and is ultra low volume. The black silicone is generally used by spearfishermen however many divers do like the black silicone, it really is a personal preference. Being low volume means that there is less air inside the mask when being worn. When heading underwater, you need to equalize, this means you need to equalize the air inside your mask to prevent for mask squeeze. When on scuba diving, this is easier as we have spare air to use from our tanks, however when spearfishing, you are on breathe hold so you need less air in your mask so you dont use up too much breathe equalizing. This is why the spearfishing masks are low volume.

How to look after your mask:  All of our masks here at Dive Warehouse are made from 100% silicone with tempered glass. When a mask is made, it gets a thin layer of silicone on the inside of the glass. This is what causes it to fog. Anti-fog's will not work until it has been pre-cleaned, as to work it needs to reach the glass and with the silicone layer covering this, it cant work. To remove this layer of silicone, you will need to purchase a pre-cleaner or you can use toothpaste. These products have a slight abrasive in it and will scrub off that silicone layer. A blob of paste on to each lenses on the inside only, give it a good scrub and rinse off with fresh water. Repeat this process 3 times to ensure you have scrubbed off all of the silicone layer, then you can anti-fog. The glass will not get scratched as it is tempered. You can purchase a good quality anti-fog here at Dive Warehouse, or you can spit or lick the inside of the lens as spit is a natural anti-fog! After you have cleaned your mask and are no longer fogging, you will need to wash your gear after every use to prevent it from perishing. The best way to clean you mask and snorkel is to put them in a tub of fresh warm water and give them a good rinse. this will take off all of the salt and sand that you get from the ocean.

The Mares Pro Flex Snorkel is a specific spearfishing snorkel that is ultra flexible and highly dymanic in the water. The mouthpiece is made from 100% silicone and the barrel is a soft PU which gives ample flex when required underwater. The wide snorkel opening offers excellent ease of breathing so you will never feel short of breath. It comes with a sliding snorkel keeper that you use to connect it to your mask of choice. When spearfishing, it is preferred to not have a purge valve on the snorkel to prevent drag, this is why the Mares Flex snorkel is perfect for spearfishing.

The Mares Razor Pro Fin is a incredibly comfortable fin to wear and use. The variable-thickness blade bends during the various phases of finning action, giving smooth blade bending action. The special design of the channels on the blade and the lateral stringers on the foot pocket make it possible to channel and increase the flow of water toward the pronounced “V” at the tip, increasing thrust and preventing the fin from slipping laterally. Its light weight and power give the Razor Pro the best name on the market today. The foot pockets are made from a soft rubber allowing you to be comfortable in the water even after hours of use. Due to being on breath hold, spearfishing and freedivers need all the power they can get to allow them go deeper quicker without using up too much air and effort. Imagine if you were using a short blade fin, you would be kicking twice as often and using up twice as much air and effort.

Many divers will choose to wear a neoprene sock inside of the fin. There are a few reasons for this, first is to prevent any rubbing or blisters that could possibly occur. Second is for warmth, after being in the water for a couple of hours, you will start to get cold, its inevitable, the neoprene socks will prevent this so you can enjoy your diving for longer. Last but not least is for protection, when walking from your car to the water entry point, many divers go off of rocks and to walk over these bare foot can be dangerous. A neoprene sock with grip will prevent you from slipping or getting cut. The socks that we recommend here at Dive Warehouse are the Cressi Soft Socks which are a 3mm or the Cressi Ultra Stretch socks that are a 2mm.

The Mares Tech Torpedo Float is a great buy as it is durable, covered by canvas with a inner bladder. Being inflatable, you can deflate it when not using it to store it away safely. The divers flag that it comes with is a world recognized flag to let boat owners know that you are in the water and to stay clear. Without a flag and float it can be very dangerous. The design of the Mares Tech Torpedo float allows it to be pulled along with a drag point on one end to increase glide over the water. There are Velcro attachments underneath the float to cater for a couple of weights. These weight's will keep the float in the up right position so the flag is sitting up and easily visible. A float is a important part of your spearfishing gear, this float will prevent you from loosing your gun. When rigged correctly, rope will be attached to the bottom of the gun handle, and to the float. When you shoot that fish and run out of breath, you can let go of your gun, swim to the surface and catch your breath. Then find your float...find your gun. Imagine letting go of your gun by accident....its then gone and you will never find it. This is why you NEED a float.
