Rob Allen Scorpia Pack

The Rob Allen Scorpia Pack is a beginners pack that is perfect for those who want to get in the spearfishing and want a good quality gun that will last years, yet do not want to spend top dollar. This particular pack has Rob Allen Scorpia gun, scorpia fins, Couta mask and a Mares Pro Flex snorkel.

The Rob Allen Scorpia Rail Gun is a get choice for a diver who wants an amazing brand that is great quality, at an affordable price. The Rob Allen Scorpia's barrel is made from aircraft grade aluminum with a super thin yet strong wall. It perform at its best on small to medium sized fish, however will still perform when confronted with larger fish. The Vector handle and mechanism is of top quality and will last the time with care. The muzzle on the Rob Allen Scorpia is a closed muzzle and comes with a single 16mm rubber. You can in fact upgrade to a 20mm rubber to give you more power. The 7mm spring steel shaft is engineered from a ultra tough oil quenched carbon alloy. The Scorpia is available in lengths 90cm, 100cm and 110cm. This particular gun is designed for shallow reef diving where it can be maneuvered quickly and quietly. The "Rail" in rail gun, means that there is a carved out rail down the length of the barrel where the spear sits. This allows the spear to be guided out when shot making it more accurate. Dont be fooled though, your gun is only as accurate as you are!!! They call Rob Allens the original railgun, not because it was the first speargun with a rail, but because it was the Rob Allen range that made full barrel length rail systems on spearguns, the popular choice they are today.

The general rule when purchasing a speargun and what length to get is determined on where you will use it. 90cm - 110cm and normally used in shallow reef diving as they are shorter and easier to maneuver in shallow water. 120cm - 140cm and normally used in open water aiming for the larger fish, this is due to them have a longer range which you need with bigger fish. This is a general rule though!

Extras:   When purchasing a speargun, there are a few extras that we recommend you purchase to complete you kit. A float rope and divers float are the 2 main extras. The rope is connected to the gun at handle and the other end of the rope is to be connected to the float, this will ensure you will not loose your gun by accidental dropping it, or having a fish steal it! (It does happen). A pair of gloves is another item that we recommend you purchase also. Once you have shot your fish, trying to grab it and finish the kill can be very difficult without gloves. Fish are not only slippery but also have made spikes and teeth. Gloves will prevent cuts and scratches as well as grip. Here at Dive Warehouse we are loading with information regarding spearfishing gear and tips so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

The Rob Allen Couta Mask is made from 100% liquid silicone and comes in black only. The black silicone is generally used by spearfishermen however many divers do like the black silicone, it really is a personal preference. Black silicone tunnels your vision so spearfishermen prefer this as they do not want to get distracted by anything else but focus on the fish they are about to shoot. The Rob Allen Couta mask has been around for a long time and with good reason, it fits majority of faces and is super comfortable. The adjustable straps with easy squeeze side clips allows for a perfect fit every time. With the single tempered glass lens you have high visibility and it is extremely low volume. Being low volume means that there is less air inside the mask when being worn. When heading underwater, you need to equalize, this means you need to equalize the air inside your mask to prevent for mask squeeze. When on scuba diving, this is easier as we have spare air to use from our tanks, however when spearfishing, you are on breathe hold so you need less air in your mask so you dont use up too much breathe equalizing. This is why the spearfishing masks are low volume.

How to look after your mask:  All of our masks here at Dive Warehouse are made from 100% silicone with tempered glass. When a mask is made, it gets a thin layer of silicone on the inside of the glass. This is what causes it to fog. Anti-fog's will not work until it has been pre-cleaned, as to work it needs to reach the glass and with the silicone layer covering this, it cant work. To remove this layer of silicone, you will need to purchase a pre-cleaner or you can use toothpaste. These products have a slight abrasive in it and will scrub off that silicone layer. A blob of paste on to each lenses on the inside only, give it a good scrub and rinse off with fresh water. Repeat this process 3 times to ensure you have scrubbed off all of the silicone layer, then you can anti-fog. The glass will not get scratched as it is tempered. You can purchase a good quality anti-fog here at Dive Warehouse, or you can spit or lick the inside of the lens as spit is a natural anti-fog! After you have cleaned your mask and are no longer fogging, you will need to wash your gear after every use to prevent it from perishing. The best way to clean you mask and snorkel is to put them in a tub of fresh warm water and give them a good rinse. this will take off all of the salt and sand that you get from the ocean.

The Mares Pro Flex Snorkel is a specific spearfishing snorkel that is ultra flexible and highly dymanic in the water. The mouthpiece is made from 100% silicone and the barrel is a soft PU which gives ample flex when required underwater. The wide snorkel opening offers excellent ease of breathing so you will never feel short of breath. It comes with a sliding snorkel keeper that you use to connect it to your mask of choice. When spearfishing, it is preferred to not have a purge valve on the snorkel to prevent drag, this is why the Mares Flex snorkel is perfect for spearfishing.

The Rob Allen Scorpia Fin is the perfect spearfishing for a diver who is getting in to it and does not want to spend a fortune, yet still get great quality. It is one of the best fitting fins available in todays market due to the extremely comfortable foot pocket which is a moulded rubber. This has been engineered to prevent over flexing when being used which gives superior transmission of leg energy to the fin blade. The Rob Allen Scorpia Fin has a softer blade than many with channels all the way down the blade which gives optimum water transfer to give plenty of thrust in the water, yet is not too harsh on your legs. The cool green camouflage color is designed to blend you in to the environment so you can ideally get closer to fish without spooking them. Due to being on breath hold, spear fishing and freedivers need all the power they can get to allow them go deeper quicker without using up too much air and effort. This is why the Rob Allen Scorpia fins are so long. Imagine if you were using a short blade fin, you would be kicking twice as often and using up twice as much air and effort. Many divers will choose to wear a neoprene sock inside of the fin. There are a few reasons for this, first is to prevent any rubbing or blisters that could possibly occur. Second is for warmth, after being in the water for a couple of hours, you will start to get cold, its inevitable, the neoprene socks will prevent this so you can enjoy your diving for longer. Last but not least is for protection, when walking from your car to the water entry point, many divers go off of rocks and to walk over these bare foot can be dangerous. A neoprene sock with grip will prevent you from slipping or getting cut. The socks that we recommend here at Dive Warehouse are the Cressi Soft Socks which are a 3mm or the Cressi Ultra Stretch socks that are a 2mm.
